r/shaving · Clean shaven men, do you prefer Braun or Philips?

I highly doubt that was the issue. Both of the Braun razors filled up with so much water you could shake them and hear it sloshing around inside. A razor you're supposed to use with a wet face and Shaving cream should be built to exist in the bathroom. If it can't, then that is a major red flag. Avoid.

r/shaving · Clean shaven men, do you prefer Braun or Philips?

I've had the Braun series 5, and the series 8. Both died within 6 months due to water ingress. My Phillips S9000 prestige just died tonight, same issue. These are IP67 rated shavers. I do not use them under water. I'm guessing rinsing the blades was enough to let the water in. They're also extremely cheaply made, as I have disassembled them post-mortem to diagnose and repair them. Please do yourself a favour and avoid anything designed or built in or near Germany. They're poorly made and overpriced. This is a lesson I have unfortunately learned the hard way.

r/shaving · Is it worth buying an electric razor?

Braun Series 8, then switched to Series 9 here. Have not ever had a nick in years of usage. Whereas with DE safety razors, multiple nicks per shave no matter the technique across a bunch of different blade brands over a few years of usage. In my case the difference in shave closeness was a few hours of beard growth so I'm much happier now.

    r/shaving · Braun Series 9 Sport+ Tips

8 Series here, I lock the head briefly when I want to get right up by my nostrils, and occasionally for a few swipes around the jawbone. Basically a couple areas of my face where the pivoting from an unlocked head leaves areas a little high. Otherwise it's unlocked.

r/shaving · Braun vs norelco electric razor question.

I used low end $35 Norelcos for 7 years.  Switched to Braun 8 series a few years ago. The Braun 8 is better, get the job done faster, feels nicer. But honestly the difference isn't that much compared to the worst Norelco. Comparing it to a better Norelco it's probably down to individual preference. For me the cost difference doesn't matter anymore, can buy whatever, just didn't see any need to go above the 8 series. The cleaning station is nice to have for keeping the thing lubricated and charged.

r/BuyItForLife · Best electric shaver for men (foil vs rotary, sensitive skin, wet/dry), what do you actually use?

I have a Braun Series 8 and it does a fantastic job solving the ingrown problem I was having with real razors Bad news: it's a shitty annoying experience. It cuts like 80% of the hairs in the first pass. The last 20% of hairs will take you 8 more passes to get most of them. That last few will need a dozen more passes and special attention to each stubborn hair. Easily easily 3x the amount of time and effort as shaving with a razor and my sideburns always look shitty. Is there a razor that specifically doesn't cut all that close? I need to avoid ingrowns but this electric shaver sucks

r/shaving · Anybody Ready to Spend $600 USD on Braun's Nevo?

I am satisfied with my series 8 have not had any real difficulties i’ve noticed that my power button is getting loose. But it is working just fine. I cant really justify shelling out 600.00 bucks for the latest and the greatest new shaver. Does it do something that my 8 doesn’t? So far i have not seen any evidence that would justify this expensive nee gadget. I would welcome anyone who could provide a good reason that would warrant this upgrade. My shave is close enough- could it be closer could be but who’s gonna notice? I am reaching the age where i prefer to have money in the bank over the latest and greatest or the new and improved. So far i’m good with my 8. Unless those who have purchased it can tell me that it will do something my 8 doesn’t- i’m good for now

r/shaving · How long has your Braun shaver lasted?

I have a Series 8, purchased in October 2024, soon to go in the garbage as the power switch is failing. My previous Series 7 also failed early. Braun used to build an excellent product but in my experience the quality and value are no longer there. I can’t afford to fork out $300 every year and a half for what essentially is a disposable good.

r/shaving · Anyone found an electric razor that’s actually close to a blade?

I don't think there's an electric shaver that gets as close as a blade, there's a thin piece of metal between the blades and your skin. With that said, my last 4 shavers have been Braun. The latest, Series 8, replaced a Series 7 that was nearly 20 years old. I'm quite happy with the new Series 8 and I can't see the very expensive Series 9 being that much better.

    r/shaving · Best foil shaver

I recently replaced my very old Braun series 7 with the new series 8 mainly because I couldn’t wrap my head around the crazy price of a series 9. About a month in and I’ve been very happy. Off hand I want to say about $230.

r/shaving · How long has your Braun shaver lasted?

I’ve had my Braun Series 8 that was purchased at Costco. At three years, the power button fell off. This was my first Braun shaver, and I was happy with the closeness of the shave. However, the durability stinks, which is my I’m going back to Panasonic. I used Panasonic shavers for many years and they never failed me. So much for German craftsmanship.

r/shaving · I am amazed by how awful the Braun Series 9 Pro is

Chiming in my .02 because, why the hell not. I’m italian and as such, grow facial hair quickly and the individual strands are thick. Even the grey ones are still thick. I sometimes go several days without shaving to get that cool look. Everyones face is different. I used to be a proponent of shaving with a good razor (every day when I was in the army). For me, the more I shaved the quicker it grew in. I could shave at 6am and by noon have stubble. So again; everyone is different. For myself, I transferred over to the Braun 8 several years ago. In my personal experience, if you are not shaving every day or a few times a day; the growth will be harder to get in one pass. Which brings me to,,,,, how sparse are your all faces that you think you can get it smooth in one pass? I personally, when I know I need (or want) a smooth shave without using a razor. I just plop my ass on the toilet, read the news while shaving. It ain’t rocket science. If you have tough follicles, it will take you longer. Bottom line, find one that works for you that does not cut your face up. As for the foil brand debate; this is one where I personally opt for OEM direct from their site. The body of the shaver can be made of magical fairy dust and vibratium; but if the foil head is bad quality, then it will suck. Anyways, that is my grumpy .02 cents opinion that one would find in an old cracker jacks box.

r/shaving · Question about acclimating to electric shaver

I use the Braun 8 Series, have extremely sensitive skin and it always get nice and close with zero irritation I haven't tried other brands that do not use a foil, so that may be where the difference is

r/SkincareAddiction · [Hair Removal] How to shave (with an electric) without getting razor burn and ingrown hairs on your neck?

I used to get razor burn on the daily when I used cheap electric razors. It looked like squirrels were attacking my neck, lol. There were a few things I change that I think contributed to razor burn being a part of the past. One, I upgraded to the Braun s8 electric razor with the pivoting head and sonic vibration, two, I stopped pressing so hard on the neck, and three, I started shaving every other day (shaving every two days) so the hair can grow and the razor could catch the hair better. This is the razor I’m talking about, saved my life and my ravaged neck, lol. Good luck man![Braun s8 Razor](https://amzn.to/4dNNJJz)

r/shaving · Frustrated with Arc 5 foil shaver

Just to chime in here as somebody who just bought an arc5 , and a braum series 8 This stuff is junk. It doesn’t cut your hair. The only way to shave is with blades, and I’m going to continue using manual razors until they actually invent something useful.

r/shaving · How long has your Braun shaver lasted?

My dad bought me a Braun shaver when I was around 16 or so and have used Braun ever since except once when I cheaped out and bought a Panasonic. I consistently get around 10 years from by Braun's and I think I got 2-3 years from my Panasonic. Ditto with Braun Oral-B electric toothbrush which last awhile and bought another brand that lasted maybe 1/4 of the time my Braun did Long story short while Braun might be more expensive they are cheaper because of how long they last. I bought my series 8 Braun shaver mid 2020 and its still going strong
