I am trying this week, for the 7th or 8th time, to try and get a decent comparable shave with my Braun 7. I'm having decent results if I'm ok with stubble. The Braun is easier on the skin. There are many people who find the Braun acceptable. It is only a matter of accepting a level of decent of performance. Also, I imagine it's subjective based on whisker toughness.

r/shaving · new to electric shaving, do i go foil or rotary? This is a tough question to answer. A question for the ages, right behind the chicken or egg first paradox. First, there are many divergent opinions. I have met many men who swear by Braun. I have a series 7. They have a poor rep and it does not shave me at all. So, for Braun I suggest the 9 and be prepared to return it. I bought a Panasonic Arc 3 and it works well. But the best shavers for me have been rotaries. The shave down more hair and can shave a multi-day growth. The 9000 is by far the best choice. Most of the others work well but, they can cause razor burn, especially on the neck. So, if you shave every day and have a light beard I recommend a Panasonic. If you shave a few times a week or have a thick beard Norelco/Phillips is the way to go. Finally, use a preshave for electrics and shave gently when your beard is bone dry. You need to learn how to accept an electric shave. There is no exfoliation. You never feel like you shaved. But, your face looks fine. Good luck.

r/shaving · razor recs? I agree with this. Sounds like he needs a trimmer and then also a razor. Personally I never liked rotary razors. I have an older Braun 7 series that was good for a while, although the blades don’t last very long. Recently got a Panasonic Arc5 and it shaves much closer. It do shave just about every day, or at least every other day. More than that and I use a trimmer first.

r/shaving · I'm tired of electric razors I will second DashMcGee on the rotary. I have shaved with blade for 98% of my shaving life. Have tried over the years with Braun series 5, 7, and 9, a Panasonic foil prior to Arc series. Always returned them. Shave was okay but was terrible on my neck. Frequently had to go back over with blade which is ridiculous. I never wanted to try rotary as foil was also supposed to be closest to blade in shave quality. I finally tried a Norelco i9000. It is fantastic. 100% improvement on neck over foil shavers. It never misses. Still not as close as a blade but I don’t care about baby-butt -smooth any longer. I don’t know if it is the circular motion or just rotary or combo of both but it is def the only electric that works on my face. It takes two minutes. No shower required. I highly recommend it.
r/shaving · Help me find a good foil shaver No. I have tried Braun 5, 7, and 9 series. Norelco, Panasonic and Remington. None of them do a good job on my face. For a quick shave the Braun works but does a wicked-bad job on neck. I have found that if I go over neck with pop-up sideburn trimmer I can get all the whiskers that shaver missed. But there is no comparison to shaving with blade. You have to choose your priorities. Quick shave and no mess - go electric. Smooth face - blade.

r/shaving · Want to shave everyday but cant What electric razor do you have? I’m similar in the sense I prefer the clean shaven look. My skin however hates a shave every day as my skin is so sensitive I tried a normal 5 blade Gillette, no use. Tried a few safety razors for years it helped but not greatly as I could only shave every other day at best but this still caused pain and irritation. I tried the Braun series 3, series 7 and still wasn’t pleased still got irritation so decided to sell them and returned to the safety razor. 10 days ago I thought to myself last try with electric and purchased the Braun series 9 pro plus. I know expensive purchase but my goodness am I pleased. Found the best shave I can get is with a small amount of shaving foam and the series 9, gives a slickness and close shave only a fraction less than an against the grain shave with a safety razor. If you have the funds available or willing to save I would encourage you to. I do know not everyone is able to do so and your experience may not be as pleasant as mine.

Yeah mine slowly stop holding a charge, and then eventually get so bad they won't even function while plugged in. And it's happened _three times_. I did store them on the charger when not in use, but I feel like that's normal. If they just made a corded version with no battery, I'd be so happy!

I really liked the quality of the shave with my Series 7 but I went through three of them in fifteen years... They just don't last for me. Battery stops holding a charge so I have to use them plugged in, and then eventually they don't even work plugged in. When my third one died almost a year ago, I just went back to wet shaving. I'm using a double-edge safety razor now and haven't looked back.

r/shaving · Braun Series 9000 Pro - Foil Deterioration - Potentially Dangerous Yeah - 9 months seems unusually quick, and of course, 6 months even more so. I had that happen to one of my Brauns like 25 years ago, but it was at least 2 years old. My current series 7 I bought in 2014 and I think I'm only on my 3rd or 4th head replacement. I don't even think about replacing them in under a year, and with my series 7, I've never had to replace the head due to the foil deteriorating. (I typically replaced it to get a better quality shave). Definitely call them and ask about warranty.
r/shaving · was gifted a Braun Series 9, have no clue how to use it Maybe try wiping your face with a wet cloth to remove leftover moisturizer? Just wet, but without soap, so as to leave some oils on your face. If it's only been your second time, give it about 5-10 more uses. I love mine still. I totally stopped wet shaving with a double-edge razor. The novelty wore off after a few months, and after that, it just became more of a hassle. Once per week, I shave (with the grain only) using a standard cartridge blade (Gillette Mach 3). Otherwise, I use my Braun Series 7. I think this has done a great job preventing in-grown hairs.

r/shaving · Been a manual shaver for 20+ years... did I miss something in the electric world? ...or even the Series 3! I have the Series 7 360 Turbo AND the Series 9 Pro+, which both do an excellent job... But then I wanted to see just what was missing in a less expensive model, so I picked up a Series 3. To my amazement; the 3 seemed to cut almost as close as the 9! The main differences being that the 9 is more comfortable against the skin, and the shave gets done faster. I received roughly the same results with the Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra, and the 2400. There is a wider gap in the comfort levels between these two. As far as quality of shave goes; you won't think you're missing anything moving from wet shaving to the newer electrics. One thing I didn't mention that has taken place in the electric world within the time frame you're asking about is the thickness of the foils. It has gotten significantly thinner recently, meaning you don't, (shouldn't), go over the same areas as many times as in the past. You can get weepers with these newer electrics if you're not careful. I have nice wet shaving equipment, and I occasionally go back and use them, just to change up the routine. But after I'm done cleaning up the water mess and cleaning up the equipment; I'm reminded by how thankful I am for all the engineering and manufacturing expertise that has gone into my electric shavers.
r/shaving · Should I switch from Phillips One Blade to Panasonic Arc5? I recently started shaving again after having a beard for the last decade. It had been so long since I'd shaved that I forgot how I used to do it. I first bought a Braun Series 7 360 Turbo. Not because I knew what it was, just because I remembered the Braun name. I thought it did a decent job, but then I started researching. OMG! I never knew there were so many different models of shavers! So I started buying up shavers. First I got the Braun Series 9 Pro+, a decided improvement in comfort. Then I bought the Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra, and immediately settled on it. I found it a lot more comfortable, and gave me a closer shave. This could get really long, so I'll shorten things up. I told myself that I had to try the Panasonic Arc 5 or 6 shaver. After I took a look at my shattered finances from my recent buying spree; I ordered the Arc 5. Night and day difference between it and the Brauns. Quieter, smoother, less irritation, and a little closer shave. What a beautiful machine. I think you will be very happy with the Panasonic Arc 5. I'm going to order the Arc 6 next month, 'cause I just gotta know.
r/shaving · Electric Shaver Advice I'm experimenting with electric shavers. I started out with the Braun Series 7 360 Turbo and thought it did quite well. Then I went to the Braun Series 9 Pro+, and it was a little closer but the biggest difference was comfort, the 9 being more comfortable than the 7. Then I wanted to try the rotary, so I picked up a Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra. I think it shaves closer than the Braun. It is also a lot more comfortable against my skin. However it does shave really close. My skin feels a little raw after going for the BBS. So much so that I use an alum block and then some Thayer's Witch Hazel, and then I finish up with some Nivea aftershave balm. My skin is left stinging after using those products, which tells me that the shave really was that close. Next I am going to try the 'bottom end' of the Braun and Philips line of shavers. Arriving this week are the Braun Series 3 and a Philips Norelco 2400. I tell myself that there must be a point where one of these foil and rotary shavers don't perform as well as their respective higher end stablemates do. I will try to find this thread again so that I can report back with my findings.

When I started shaving again, I went to Amazon, and I remembered the Braun name, so that's what I typed in the search bar, and the Series 7 360 Turbo was the first thing that popped up. I was so ignorant about the shaving world at the time that I was unaware that there were so many different models within each brand. I thought/still think the Seven does an excellent job. But being the inquisitive type, I went into debt for the Series 9 Pro+ just to see. In my limited experience (I have since settled on the Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra), I can't tell the difference between the results closeness wise between the two Brauns. The 9 is more comfortable to shave with, however.

Both of them shave very close. That being said, I also have the Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra, and that is my favorite. But to see if any Norelco is a better choice, I have a Philips Norelco 6600 coming today from Amazon. And the reason I bought this 6600 was to see just that. How good does a mid-range Norelco compare to their top of the line. I will report back after Amazon makes the delivery and I get a chance to test it out.

I recently compared this shaver to my Series 9 Pro+, and I have to say that the 7 shaves as close as the 9, although the 9 is more comfortable. The above being said, I don't use either of them since I got my Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra. Much more comfortable and so much quieter. And easily just as close as the Braun, if not closer.

They are the Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra, a Braun Series 7 360 Turbo, and the Braun Series 9 Pro+. The Series 7 shaves reasonably close, but feels a little rough, although it didn't seem to leave any redness. The 9 Pro+ feels a lot smoother on my skin, and also gets a little closer than the 7. But the one I was reaching for all the time, before I decided to grow a stubble beard, was the Philips. Those rotary heads feel buttery smooth against my skin...BUT that is deceptive. My whole face stings after a shave with it. But I use an alum block, and then rinse the residue off, then splash on some Thayer's Witch Hazel. I let the Witch Hazel dry, then apply some Nivea aftershave balm. No redness, no bumps, and no pain. I know that sounds like a lot of work, and a person really doesn't have to go through all that, with a cheaper shaver, because it won't/can't shave that close. There are choices to be had, and to be made. What kind of shave are you willing to settle for?
r/shaving · I can't decide between Rotary vs Foil, Philips vs Braun, Lower vs Higher Series, etc... I have been out of the loop shaving wise for the last ten years. I had just let my beard grow wild. One day I decided I didn't like looking like a bum. So I went to the barbershop and got a decent haircut, and my beard totally shaved off. It was an older barber, but definitely not a full service shop. I couldn't get a decent shave there. So I thought about the situation a little bit, and decided I wanted to go electric. I didn't do any research, and bought the first Braun that popped up on Amazon. It just so happened to be the Series 7 360 Turbo. I was impressed with the closeness of the shave, (not knowing what a good shave looked or felt like), but for some reason I then decided to do some research. My next step was the Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra. I couldn't believe how smooth and QUIET it was. Closeness was acceptable, but I still thought there was more... Sooooo I bought the Braun Series 9 Pro+. It shaves really close, but almost a tie with the Philips. I'm finding the Pro+ will leave 'patches', that need touching up, and the i9000 takes care of them. ALL the above being said, (TLDR), even though I love the Philips, if I could only have one, (thank God that's not the case), I would settle on the Braun Series 9. One thing I forgot to mention is that the shaving experience is smoother with the 9 than the 7. The 7 feels kinda rough by comparison. Lucky me, when I want to be clean shaven, I start out with the Braun Series 9, and finish up with the Philips. Side note: after doing more research; the features of the Philips Ultra are bells and whistles gimmicks that I spent money on, but never use. I believe that the shave quality would be just as good with the next model under the Ultra.
r/shaving · Help me decide between a electric, multi-blade, or safety razor I have a Braun Series 7 360 Turbo, and a Series 9 Pro+, and a Philips i9000 Prestige Ultra. They all shave close enough to suit me. A lot of the time I will use the Series 9,and get a good close shave, but with a few left over spots that didn't clean up. That's when I break out the Philips i9000. It will 'find' those spots and even out the shave. I get irritation with a cartridge razor, even though I'm using the Gillette Fusion ProGlide. I'm older, and I look at shaving as a hobby, so I am constantly trying new things, for fun. I doubt you will settle on one thing at your age, and that's fine. If you look at shaving like I do, you will have many years of enjoyment.

r/shaving · Electric Shaver Advice The Braun 96 series that is new and as far as I know it’s widely released in UK but has two packages available at Amazon. I had a Braun series 7 ok but barely used just took too long. This new one is what electric razors were advertised as but just didn’t have the tech to deliver what was promised. It is truly a game changer and worth it depending on your wants and needs. If we have company that says oh can we stop by in 15 minutes, I hated it not because I didn’t want the company but shaving was such a hassle for me. Now dry shave bing bang bong very very well done and occasionally using a suggested here…aveno shaving gel…only three times so far. Take a little extra time and it is smooth as a baby. Dont usually do it the dry shave is just great
r/shaving · Braun 96xx / 96M cassette Fantastic! Best electric razor I’ve ever used. Was about to get the 9599cc but learned of the 96 series right before I pulled the trigger. I have sensitive skin and a very thick fast growing beard. Even with this razor if I get baby smooth if I were going to a formal function that night I might need a touch up, but so simple, no irritation. I had a braun 7 series but while it was that best at the time I could never use it regularly because I had to press too hard. Highly recommend the 96 series

I was about to pull the trigger on the Braun 9599 CC which has everything and read reviews about the 96** I really wanted the package with the cleaner and comfort head and electric charging case but only in UK. I ended up pulling the trigger and getting the the 96 with the comfort head as I imagined that within 18 mos they’ll certainly be available by then. I just imagine they are going to get rid of all the 95 inventory until the release the 96 world wide but just guessing. What I can say is that I had a Braun 7 series for years and I could rarely use it as I had to press to hard and I have the combo of a very thick fast growing beard and very sensitive skin. Anyway the 96 is a DREAM! I actually for the first time since 12 years old (I enjoyed it then as it was cool for about a year or two LOL) I actually have been clean shaven the last two weeks every day so quick and easy it tickles me. Just not used to being this clean shaven and having it be a joy or non issue as opposed the feeling of “I have to shave today”
r/shaving · Daily shaving Just upgraded from a very old 7 series Braun which I couldn’t use too often just too hard and not good enough compared to just an old fashioned Gillette 5 blade which works but I don’t enjoy or like to shave at all…to the new 96 series currently only on Amazon in US. AMAZING! Have very sensitive skin and it gets as smooth as a blade or darn close. I have a thick beard and it does grow back quicker. I don’t think it gets beneath the skin like those manual blades did but at the cost of a lot of irritation. The last two weeks I wake up and shave if I’m working or not. Smooth right away and over the day a little stubble grows back that I notice way more than anyone else does. I would probably shave again in evening if I had a big formal deal but the technology has advanced so much since I got the 7 series. Personally being forward thinking as soon as I learned about the 9600 the 95 series would have left me wondering what I missed. You can put a 96 cassette on the 94 and 95 series although they are not being distributed through normal channels yet. Fully out in UK… I do think for a beard like mine the 96 series is a worthwhile step up from the 95 series. Anyway don’t work for Braun. Had problems with the battery on my 7 the first two times had to return to Best Buy but finally got one that has lasted 7-10 years can’t even remember
r/shaving · Best Electric Shaver? I just got the 96 series Braun and it is by far the best electric razor I’ve ever used. Had a 7 series but was still not really up to the task without me pressing hard enough and then made it rarely useable. This 96 series gets a real clean shave with little effort. My beard grows very fast so if I shaved in AM I might need a touch up if I had a formal evening event but when I’m done it’s really just the best. If it holds up with the battery etc best purchase of this type of item ever

r/BuyItForLife · Braun foil shaver - is this a BIFL item? I've had my series 7 for 20 years, changing only the battery once, and the shaver head approx every 2 years. It's still going strong, although it has plenty of scuffs and scrapes. Only recently have I started thinking maybe it's time to replace, but it's aesthetics not performance. Maybe not "life" literally, but certainly "phase of life". Before that I had a lower end Braun for about 12 years. Their stuff is 100% quality for such a product. Fwiw, a huge factor for longevity of these is the cleaning process - the clean and charge system is clutch. You can use alternate cleaning solutions if you want as well, but keep cleaning the shaver.

I use a Braun Series 7, and I only shave after a hot shower with a gentle exfoliant. I also use an alcohol‑free aftershave balm. Since I started that routine, ingrowns basically disappeared. The Manscaped stuff is more of a body groomer,not great for face shaving. Stick with Braun or Panasonic for sensitive skin.

Use the one blade to trim down the hair and the Braun trims the hair even further to feel smoother. Takes 5-10 minutes with the combination. I need the combination if i wait for more than 2 days to shave. Otherwise the Braun 7 is enough if you shave daily or every other day. There is a Braun 9 out as well, I haven't tried to use it yet.

I had the same problem with my new Braun Series 7. Replacing the battery didn’t help. I was already considering buying a new shaver, but I decided to take it apart one more time. It turned out that the problem was caused by loose connections between the circuit board and the internal contacts. All six connections—two for the battery, two for the charging socket, and two for the motor—are not soldered directly to the circuit board. Instead, the board is pressed against spring contacts. If one of these contacts becomes loose, the shaver may suddenly switch off and refuse to turn on again. Briefly connecting it to the charger temporarily resets or “wakes up” the electronics, after which it works again. The solution was to disassemble the shaver as shown in the photo and very gently bend the spring contacts outward slightly, so they press more firmly against the circuit board. Be careful not to bend them too far or break anything. Then reassemble everything in reverse order. The whole procedure took about 10 minutes, and now the shaver works perfectly. Other Braun models with a similar internal design may have the same issue. I hope this helps someone! My first Reddit post :)

r/shaving · Electric razor leaves stray hairs on neck I have a Braun Series 7 that I've had for close to 7-8 years. It is very hard to cover the neck area because of the curves. I can also attest to the fact that electric razors don't do a very good job with grey hairs. After all these years, I've never been able to solve that problem. I use a regular hand razor most days now. I only use the Braun on the first or second day after the hand razor, to maintain a clean-shaven look. However, by the end of the 2nd day or so, those grey hairs in the beard show up again, and it's a waste of time to use only the Braun, unless I want to have patches of grey showing everywhere.

r/shaving · Best shaver for my circumstances? Your issue with the braun is that you're shaving too infrequently for electric shavers. Ive had a norelco 5 and 7 series, and braun 7 and 9 series. They've all been unique, but they all worked their best when wet shaving daily on short stubble. I like to use a safety razor on Monday, and an electric shaver the rest of the weekdays. The weekend is usually when I get a break from shaving. Id recommend shaving with the grain with a safety razor if you prefer shaving every 3 days, or shaving daily with the braun to keep the hair short enough for the shaver to cut with minimal passes.
r/shaving · Braun Series 7 Irritation I love shaving with a double edge safety razor, yet my Braun S7 gives more consistently close results than the DE. I can can get a smoother shave with a razor if I shave against the grain, but Ill have break outs and in grown hair later. The Braun shaves closer and misses less hairs when using wet with shave gel or cream which is how I I use my electric shaver. If shaving dry, I have to remember to start the shave on the sensitive areas to avoid irritaion from heat, so I start on my neck if shaving dry. You start with the sensitive areas first because the shaver is cooler in the beginning. I also have a can of andis clipper spray I use for cleaning and lubrication, and its also supposed to cool trimmers during use. Lectric shave also works well to give a closer shave when using dry, it just has a slightly cheap musk/chemical scent that I'm not a fan of. Before and after care is also important. Washing, hydrating, and sunscreening your face daily also helps reduce irritation.

It's 125 bucks. So pricey. But my uses a cheaper that was 40 bucks. Still a Braun. Still very good. Very close. The shadow isn't noticeable. For me. Cause I grow hair fast.

I bought the cleaning solution pack from Amazon and mixed with rubbing alcohol. I had to replace the shaver head once, because the foil collapsed. Fairly cheap to maintain. The battery lasts about 4-5 weeks for me, used daily at about 1-2 minutes each day. I also have sensitive skin, and recall needing to use it for about a week when I first got it before the sensitivity went away. I use it dry, it’s just more convenient and using it wet seems to be a worse for me anyway. Noise wise, probably a bit loud, but it’s not going to hurt your hearing. Overall good product.

I recently bought an Andis reSurge and it is fantastic, it gives me a closer shave than the Braun. It cost me only $70 from an Etsy seller (Beauty365Shop is the seller). It handles very well. The packaging is stellar, never had a razor that was packaged like this, it's how I would expect an Apple product to be packaged.

Luckily I didn't spend $150 on it though always wanted to try and electric shaver that was a good brand. I now can shave dry but dont wash face before shaving dry. Atm i am trying to dry shave daily. When done i wash face with dial antibacterial hand soap use what you want. Recently grabbed a 9 and it’s honestly night and day vs the 7. The 7 is generally considered the best value. But for something I’m using every single day, the premium for the 9 is definitely worth it. The 9 gives a better shave, feels softer on the skin, and does way better on the neck and tough areas. I also used rotary a lot time ago and won’t go back. TLDR: Braun 9 no question.

r/shaving · Review: Panasonic Arc 5 vs Braun Series 9 Truth to be said, the cost for the foils on the A5 here in Australia, is A$110+A$50 for the whole assembly every 15 months. The shaving experience isn't that great after 12 months in my experience. I personally prefer Braun when it comes to the cleaning station. Yes, Braun cartridges are more expensive but, the way I manage it, I don't need to replace them every month. It's a pure concentrated and self-contained solution and again, imo, more effective in cleaning and lubricating. With Panasonic, you have this gel that is meant to dissolve in water and you create your solution every month. But the reality is that the Panasonic solution doesn't really stay mixed, and it deposits on the bottom of the tray and towards the end of the month is kind of smelly. The Braun counterpart cartridge instead, can be removed from the tray after each use and sealed with its own lid so it doesn't evaporate as quickly being volatile alcohol. I hope this helps some folks in their decision-making to have a more informed decision. I thought I liked Panasonic A5 more after my Braun old and legendary S7, but after 2 years of the A5, I switched back to the Braun and I feel I'm leaning towards Braun for the overall experience and maintenance costs.

r/shaving · Dropped braun series 7 foil I just did this same thing a couple days ago and it’s been driving me crazy as the foil head looks fine but stated pulling hairs. I just woke up at 3am and decided too fiddle with it I ordered a new one but not only is it $50+ it’s 3-5 day tell it gets here. {My findings} the problem is the middle (longer hair) cutter, separate/lift the middle cutter from the cassette, look in between the two foils and you can see a tiny silver’ish pin (if you turn the razor on with the middle cutter removed you can see this small pin vibrate. Looking at the middle cutter you can see a black plastic arm that’s attached/pivots on one side, the side of this arm that’s not attached has a small hole on the end, this hole has too be fitted onto that small vibrating pin that’s attached too the foils (cassette). My Brain Series 7 is only 9 months old and came with the washing station so it is cleaned and lubricated after every shave. So I knew that the foils weren’t garbage yet. I hope this saves the next guy from needlessly buying a new cassette.

r/shaving · Foil Shaver for Close Shave on Sensitive Skin In my case, I tried the Braun series 7 (older model) the current series 9 pro+, and Panasonic arc 5. I have very sensitive skin and coarse hair. All three razors took a while getting all the hairs, and left some razor burns. The one that worked the best for me was the Panasonic arc 5. It left the least amount of razor burns, and gave the smoothest shave in the end. The series 9 pro+ wasn't as smooth, and gave me a slightly worse razor burn, but not by much. the series 7 was slightly worse than the series 9 pro+. The one thing Series 9 pro+ did better was that it didn't get as warm when shaving for a long period of time, possibly because the arc 5 has a more powerful and faster motor. The way I see it, if you want the smoothest shave, more powerful motor, and save some money, I'd go for the arc 5 (maybe arc 6, haven't tried it yet). If you don't want to worry about cleaning and oiling the razor after use, and don't mind the shave being as smooth, the Braun series 9 would be a good option.

r/BuyItForLife · Looking for a reliable electric waterproof razor I've had a series 7 for a decade with no issues (though looking at the listing, I think the series 7 became the series 8). I tried a few different electrics before that one and none shaved nearly as closely. For me, the round Norelco blades caused irritation that I never had with the straight blades. My son took the series 7 2 years ago, and I got a series 9. The biggest bonuses are that it, seems to actually do better with longer stubble, and the base has a fan that dries off the blades so you have a clean dry razor sooner if you need to shave morning and evening but they aren't that different. camelcamelcamel.com shows the series 8 regularly drops under $200.

I recently bought a series 9 pro Plus, because I had had a series 7 that lasted 20 years with two head changes, well what happened to me happened to you, after two weeks it no longer worked, what I didn't do was change the head, €60!!, so I bought a Panasonic series 800, cheap compared to the Braun, I've had it for a week, but it works much more than the new Braun, and most importantly, in Braun you They "force" you to change the head every 6 months, in fact you get a warning, and Panasonic tells you that it can last 5 years, but you have the option, if you decide, to change the blades every year, and the blades every two years, but without pressure, like Braun. They have adopted the same policy as toothbrushes, they give you colors so you can change the replacement, they do not sell machines, they sell replacements, apart from scheduling their obsolescence, because before they boasted that it was self-sharpening, in fact I changed the head when it broke due to wear and tear, and another nice thing is that the head includes blades and blades, to make it more expensive, in the Panasonic they are separated, like the old Brauns before.

r/BuyItForLife · My old electric razor has finally died on me. Looking to buy a new one. I can't suggest one for you to buy but I can tell you what not to buy. I have been a big fan of Braun razors for over 20 years. The only brand that shaved like a real razor. My first one I think was a model 5 and after about ten years I bought a model 7. Both were incredible. Several months ago I saw a Model 9 at Costco for an incredible price and bought it. From the first shave I thought I was doing something wrong and after hours of research determined that I wasn't. It was taking twice as long to shave and I could still feel the stubble. Not even close to be as good as the previous Brauns. Fortunately I bought it at Costco and returned it with no problems. So, if you can find a model 7 I would highly recommend it.

The blade refills are expensive, but they last a very long time. I use Lectric preshave and a sensitive skin aftershave and it's the least irritating shave I've found. Not always perfect, not as close as a wet shave, but good enough. I've been very happy with it.

r/shaving · Braun Foil vs Philips Foil I feel like the quality of the Braun in general is inversely proportional to the series number. I started with a 3 and it was a tank. Lasted for years. I don’t even remember why I moved on but when I did the 7 was a year old and it lasted about 3 years before the plastic parts started to disintegrate. Now I have the 9 pro and the on/off button broke, just fell off, in less than a year. Unfortunately, the rotary style shavers, at least the last time I tried one, absolutely chew up my face. Have they improved on the comfort front at all? I really want to go with something else next time but what other option is there?

r/shaving · Should I get a foil razor? Exactly what I experienced. I tried a rotary head type first, not impressed. Then a Braun series 7. Did not shave very close at all. Switched back to a safety razor, using in the shower, steaming water. Very pleased with results.
r/shaving · Foil shaver I first tried the Philips Norelco Shaver 3800, rotary type. Didn't like it, difficult to get a close shave on both my lower neck and jaw line. Then I tried the Braun Series 7 Foil shaver. It never felt like it was giving a close shave. Again, the lower neck area was problematic. So I tried a cartridge razor from "The Supply Company". It gave a better shave, but the smooth metal handle was slippery when trying to use it in the shower. The shave itself wasn't impressive. So for now I'm back to my old reliable Gillette Mach3 Razor. Shaving this elderly face is quite different than my younger face generation ago.

I went with the high end Braun 7 (at the time) and it's been good. I have one spot on my neck that it struggles with that I touch up with a manual safety razor a few times a week.

I've used the Philips OneBlade for a while and it shaves fairly close, much closer than the Braun but not as close as a conventional razor.

I decided to give braun another chance when I saw the braun series 9 sport at Costco and im enjoying it so far. It doesnt irritate my skin and its a pretty close shave. I have a series 7 and I only had it a month and it’s already pulling my hair I trim my facial hair first, so the braun shaver doesn’t have to do much. I keep it clean and take it apart every-time I use it to clean it and it still pulls my stubble.

The i7 Premium one sold in 711 Japan is awesome and cost live $4-5 USD for a big tube. It’s just right so it doesn’t clog the razor or foam in anyway. The series 9 had been cutting up my neck. But it got better when I bought new blades.

r/shaving · worth changing from panasonic to braun? I went from the braun 7 and just got the 9 pro+ yesterday. Personally I think it was worth it. I got the full kit for $270 on Amazon. I got my braun 7 in 2016 and it still works but the reset button stopped working and said I needed to change the razor head even though I put a new one on. The 9 has a closer shave then my 7. If this 9 lasts as long as my old one I'll be happy.

The 7 is okay now for a budget. I'd avoid the 6 I think. I used the 6 head on my 7 and by goly was it trash. Just ripping and pulling hair.

If your budget allows I would suggest the Braun series 8 since it is very close to the old series 7 classic! Also be sure to use an electric pre shave lotion like Williams Lectric shave! They help!

I ended up returning mine. Extremely disappointed in the shave quality and coming from the old rotary shavers I was not at all happy with the cleaning function of the shavers. It all just seemed to high maintenance to me not to mention the cost of getting new solution. I ended up getting a new Replacement Head for the old Norelco for $20 and called it a day.

Well, I recently decided to purchase an electric shaver. Initially, I tried a Braun series 7 foil shaver. Hated it. I soon returned it and purchased a Philips Norelco 3900 rotary shaver which is especially designed to combat ingrown hair. Fabulous product! Additionally, it cost HALF of what the Braun cost! I have to make a few passes to get clean, but excellent results. And no fancy pre shave products either. Just a little Shave Secret and water.

r/shaving · How long has your Braun shaver lasted? I have Series 7 since March 2017 (according to Amazon), which is over 8 years. So far no problems whatsoever. Few scratches, that's all. The battery is holding charge for about a month with everyday shaving - although I can not guarantee it, may be less, may be more. The manual says that the head should be replaced every 18 months. Again, according to Amazon, I replaced it in June 2021, that is after 51 months. A guess, it is due for another replacement in September :-)

It works fine except under my chin, along the jawline and the whole side of my face. Forget about the neck. Of course, we all have different hair textures so we can have varying results with the same electric razor.

This was one of the ones that came with a cleaning base. This refills cost more that the foils over time. Towards end I was rinsing it out and refilling with ipa along with rinsing the cutting foil under water.

r/shaving · how do i stop cutting my neck shaving? I struggle with this too. Exactly my problem. I’m sorry to say the solution that works best for me is using a Braun series 7. I tried a bunch of different blades, creams, etc and this is what worked consistently for me. Even with good technique I would leave some hair on my neck and it would drive me crazy. Most times I managed to nick myself only once which was a huge victory considering. And only doing one pass would feel incomplete. The Braun is the only thing that has left my neck in a better condition than when I would wet shave, which was better than when I would use disposables. If you are bent on sticking to blades try using a de blade handle like Edwin jaeger and some really sharp blades like feather. The blade is no joke and is polarizing but getting a great single pass shave is very possible with it. My favorite shaving cream was Ariana and Evan’s. Felt like their lift was the best for me. Invest in a good bowl and boar brush. Good luck!

r/shaving · Review: Panasonic Arc 5 vs Braun Series 9 I always used Braun Series 9s in the past— also had a 7 that I loved. But then I tried an Arc 6. The shave was noticeably closer (though less forgiving), so I switched to Panasonic. Overtime however, I became dissatisfied with the cleaning station. The cleaning solution gets nasty. Because of that I went back to Braun 9. It is more forgiving, has a smaller head, did a better job at 2 day stubble, and I really prefer the alcohol based cleaning solution. However, I found out the hard way that Braun has gone to the dogs. In only a few months the cutter wore a hole in the foil. I bought a replacement only to find out that it has been redesigned, and now it is really bad. I mean really bad. Numerous bad reviews online bear me out. It is unusable. Even Brauns travel electric razors, which used to be very good, are now unusable. I had to go to a business meeting and sit across a table from a very attractive young lady with a half shaven face. It was embarrassing. But I digress. Long story short, I went back to Panasonic razors — Arc 5 this time. I lost so much money on Braun that I can’t afford an Arc 6. I’m done with Braun. I don’t know what’s going on over there but they have botched what used to be a good razor.

I did the math, and this thing will pay itself off in less than 2 years. As for cleaning the edges of a goatee, im not sure how to help you there as ive never had one myself. I use my straight razor for that kind of detail work on my sideburns though.

r/shaving · Shaving causing bumps and painful spots,and worsening acne I used to use a blade razor and would always struggle with razor burn back in high school as well as acne. Went to electric razors, tried a few through college with better results and then bough a braun series 7 electric razor and I've never really had any issues since. I do use a face wash cleanser and exfoliating routine throughout the week which I do feel helps. But I would look into electric razzers or at least a beard trimmer to help manage your facial hair

My old 7 series Braun was starting to go, it had served me faithfully for \~15 years or so. Picked up the same 9 series Braun at Costco. I immediately noticed how it would shave closer and quicker than my old 7 series. The only thing I don't like about it is the absurdly large travel case, but that's because it has a battery in it to charge the razor.

It gives a smooth shave, doesn’t get hot, and doesn’t need a ton of maintenance. Great for shaving every couple of days. The **Panasonic Arc5** shaves closer, but it takes more effort to keep it clean and in good shape. It’s also a bit bigger and louder. If you just want something that works without hassle, the Braun’s probably the better pick. Throw in a pre-shave lotion and you’re golden.

I thought maybe the one I got was just bad so I bought it direct from Braun and that foil head was shit too. I ended up throwing the entire shaver away after not using it for about a year. I'm looking to go back to electric shaver after about 8 years of manual but my health has changed and I have difficulty standing in front of a mirror for more than a few minutes. I was considering Braun but the last one left a bad taste. So I'm looking for something else. I don't care the price, as long as it works.

r/BuyItForLife · Men’s electric razor I bought a Braun Series 7 razor 8 years ago and it still shaves VERY well. I replace the blades/screen every 6 months (about $35) and it's still great. NOTHING will ever shave as close as a blade (maybe a lightsaber, lol). I shave with a Harry's razor twice per week in the shower (mostly neck and cheek areas) and maintain everything else daily with the Braun. I'll buy another Braun when it finally dies. I believe they are on Series 9 now.

I've contacted Braun and awaiting a reply. There is clearly a gap between the head and the body allowing stubble to come through. Its a 360 degrees flexi shaver. Could it be a design fault?

If you want no stubble you have to go over the same spot like 5x and thats really annoying imo. Replacement blades are expensive and frankly are worse quality than the original blade that comes with the razor. The cleaning station is a gimmick and doesn’t even clean that well.

I have owned 2 Braun (Series 7 and Series 9) and always had to follow with a handheld razor to feel fully shaved. I bought a Panasonic Arc3 a couple years ago and what a difference! I also use a preshave lotion, but the razor gets me 99% of the way by itself! The foils and replacement cutters are cheaper too!

r/shaving · Is it worth buying an electric razor? I spent several years using disposable razers of all types, from the cheapest to the expensive ones that have a bunch of gimmicky features. I've also used the Philips OneBlade razor, which was actually surprisingly good, even though nowhere near as close a shave. But then I tried a Braun Series 7 a while back and that was impressive. Not the cheapest one, since it came with a self-cleaning station, but the performance was fantastic. Ever since then, I've also used one of the higher-end Philips models (a Series 9000 model) and now I'm on the top-tier Braun S9 Pro+ model. Honestly, you do not need to go to the highest end model of an electric razer, but I also wouldn't recommend going for a super cheap one from AliExpress. At the end of the day, there's two main types of electric shavers: foil-based or rotary-based. The foil-based ones are the easiest to use and will give you a very, VERY close shave if you go for a decent one. If you don't want to spend too much, a Braun S3 could do, but be aware that it should not be representative of how good a proper shaver can be. I would go to a Series 7 as the lowest option. Yes, expensive, but think of how much you were spending on disposable shavers anyways, and of how nice it'll be to not get any cuts while shaving again.

I had that happen to one of my Brauns like 25 years ago, but it was at least 2 years old. My current series 7 I bought in 2014 and I think I'm only on my 3rd or 4th head replacement. I don't even think about replacing them in under a year, and with my series 7, I've never had to replace the head due to the foil deteriorating. (I typically replaced it to get a better quality shave). Definitely call them and ask about warranty.

r/shaving · Braun Series 7 vs. Panasonic Arc5 From my experience the Braun Series 7 is best avoided. Having used it for a few years I find the shaving performance worse than other options. And the trimmer breaks easy with normal use -- it broke, I had it repaired, then it broke again within a few months. And I've never had that problem with other shavers.

r/shaving · How to get clean shave no razor Electric shavers have blades but they dont need replacing nearly as often. 12-18mos to keep them sharp and functional. The replacements arent super cheap. If you like a close shave the Panasonic AC5 gets good reviews and I like it so far. Had the Braun series 7 prior and it just wore out so I tried something new. I still go back to my double-edge safety razor for most days. Nothing beats a wet shave with a very sharp new blade for me. YMMV.

r/shaving · Men who own a Braun shaver, how close is the shave? Have a braun series 7. If you’re using it daily, about as close as a blade. Especially so if you pull your skin tight. If you any longer hairs, done expect it to cut - use a blade or a trimmer. Very happy with my s7, would gladly recommend. Don’t care for the base though. Mine base jut bit it. Good luck friend!

r/shaving · Electric razor recommendations Babyliss gets lots of good reviews for closeness, but it is a shave every day razor since its foils are not designed to pick up longer hairs. I just shaved 2.5 days of growth off with my Panasonic Arc4. No irritation, and it gives a close shave. Absolutely smooth on the upper lip and chin - closer than a DE razor. Neck is very close and almost as good as DE razor. Cheeks a little less close than a DE razor. It also takes less than half the time of a DE shave. I used to have an old Braun Series 7, that while comfortable, did not shave quite as close as Panasonic.

r/shaving · what shavers would you recommend as a gift for my boyfriend? I bought the same razor about 3 years ago and I like it a lot better than the Braun series 7 that it replaced. I exclusively wet shave and keep it in the shower unless charging. The Braun rusted out after three years, the Panasonic arc5 is still going strong. Highly recommend. I did replace the foil recently but I have a very sensitive neck and was making too many passes with the old foil.

r/shaving · Panasonic Arc 5 or Braun Series 9 Pro + Where are you seeing the Arc 5 for $130? I just got the Braun Series 7 on sale for about $160 and plan on returning it to try out the Panasonic instead. I’m using it mainly to just clean my neck, and I have to pass over every area of my neck in multiple directions 20+ times for it to actually trim it. Hoping the Panasonic will do better.

r/shaving · razor recs? Honestly you just need to buy a good trimmer type shaver and then he should razor where he wants a real close shave. I just bought a $450 Braun series 7 foil shaver and it's the worst purchase of my life, it does such a bad job of shaving (especially the neck) that I had to go over everything 10 times and take 20+ mins too shave, causing more irrigation than any other shaving I've done since I had to to over it so much. I think foil shavers only work for people with very little hair and also thin hair.

r/shaving · How can I make shaving cheaper?? I use a Braun Series 7 wet/ dry. Exclusively dry shave, it’s less messy and I don’t get irritation. Skin and hair types will vary. Had it for over 7 years never replaced a head the blades self sharpen. Used it this morning, clean as a babys tush.

I was experiencing intense itching for the past four months, though I’m not sure why. I was forced to switch, which is why I chose a cheaper mid-range razor. I’m satisfied with the results, and I think I’ll stick with electric shaving. However, I will wait another 2–3 weeks to see if there is further improvement.

r/shaving · [HELP] My Braun only works if I plug in the charger and then unplug it. Otherwise it won't turn on. 8 series Ich hatte das gleiche Problem beim Braun Series 5. Ließ sich trotz vollem Akku nicht starten. Kurz das Ladekabel dran, und schon ging es. Wurde dann von Braun innerhalb der Garantie repariert (Platine ausgetauscht). Der Fehler trat jedoch nach ein paar Wochen wieder auf. Ich bekam darauf ein Ersatzgerät - Einen neuen Series 7 Rasierer, also ein Upgrade. Aber zu früh gefreut. Da trat das Problem jetzt nach gut 6 Monaten auch auf. Exakt das gleiche. Habe den jetzt auch zur Reparatur eingeschickt (immer noch auf Garantie). Jetzt bin ich gespannt, was passiert 🙈.

I’ve tried them all and the Braun series 7 is the best electric razor I’ve ever used. I’ve had it at least 5 years so there’s probably a newer model now. Just rinse it under water after you use it. It’s so easy . It’s better than the Panasonic too.
