Coway Airmega 450

r/AirPurifiers · Choose between airmega 450 and Philips 4200 for odours The Coway 250,300,400 are all better than the 450 which is a compromise unit Coway made to capture the “round purifiers look better” market.
r/AirPurifiers · Dreame AirPursue "PM10" review (vs. Dyson Big+Quiet BP04) Except that the Dyson does only ONE thing well - move air. The sensor is cheap, the filter is low quality, and it’s insanely expensive. A Coway 250 cleans air many times as well, looks retro stylish, and costs $250. A Coway 450 moves as much air as a Dyson, cleans 10x as well, and costs under $500. Both include enough carbon to be useful. Sensors on air purifiers are a useless gimmick. If you like the look of the Dyson, that’s your aesthetic taste. But it is firmly NOT recommended by this subreddit.
r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? So first of all I'm always pretty skeptical of round filters being HEPA in the first place. It's definitely possible to make a round HEPA filter, but most of these things ship flat packed and squooshed up which is NOT HEPA. Basically - and you could search for this because it's been explained many times - HEPA relies on fibers being blown into the filter in a certain configuration. Let's say the filter runs from left to right... the fibers would be blown in from left to right, randomly. So that by brownian motion, small particles are caught... but if you VACUUM the filter, you dislodge those fibers. Maybe suck them towards the vacuum. This means that the ability to capture ultra-fine particles is pretty much trashed. Out of the box, a HEPA filter captures 99.97% of particles at 0.3micron, and nearly 100% of smaller AND larger particles. After vacuuming, that number drops between 5-10% which is basically no longer HEPA... not even EPA.
r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? The manufacturers don't care - either you vacuum it which decreases filter life, or you throw it away more often anyway. Either way you're replacing the filter every 6 months max instead of every year, thus making them more money. Remember, if their filters are HEPA - and they claim that they are, even though they're round - then you CAN'T vacuum them. Doing so renders them no longer HEPA. You could carefully side-vac them or brush the dust off.
r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? It's round, and although powerful and built by a reputable manufacturer, it suffers from the same problems that plague all round purifiers. Do a search in this subreddit, I've gone over it repeatedly. The SHORT SHORT version is that round purifiers don't have useful pre-filters and therefore their main filters become clogged rapidly and wear out prematurely, increasing cost of ownership and decreasing efficiency. Also, the filtration level of the main filters is questionable due to their design. It's "trendy" now to make round units with "360 degree filtration", but it's ... not an optimal configuration.
r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? Yeah it’s vastly overpriced for what it is. Not entirely sure what Coway was thinking there. It cleans air, no doubt. But the lack of removable pre-filter casts doubt on the quality of the main filter. And the longevity of the unit.
r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? Budget space basically means sub-$100 units. Sometimes sub-$150 units. The 450 is inferior to the 300, 400, and even 250.

r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? I thought about that but figured they have them in stock but guessing that within 3-6 months they will update their website and offer the filters
r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? The 1st two when in auto mode never went into sleep mode when the room went dark. Both were replaced. The 3 rd one seems to be working Ok, but because of the first two, I keep my eye out
r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? I have both a 350 and 450. I run them both on AUTO. The 350 adjust speed automatically and seems to do a good job. At night once the room is dark, it automatically goes into sleep mode and turns all lights off. I’m on my third 450. The first two always stayed in auto mod. Finally the third one works and self adjust when in auto mode and goes into sleep mode went the room is dark

r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? I’m not certain how to post pics. The Coway 450 does not have a washable pre-filter. Every other week I remove the entire filter & vacuum the black screen that surrounds the filter. Looking for image icon…
r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? I began using our Airmega 450 about four months ago in March of 2025. The filter display shows 50%, at this rate my filter will last about eight months. I questioned Conway about the one year advertised filter life and I received the following explanation: “the lifetime expectancy of the filters is based on an average of 8 hours of daily use. However, Airmega air purifiers are designed to operate continuously and can safely run 24/7.”
r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? I just contacted Coway & they still don't have pricing for the 450 filter. It's a nice unit, it's easy to move around with the wheels. But I do wonder if the initial higher cost & filter replacement cost will be worth it down the road.
r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? Funny you ask...We were talking about this earlier in the day! I see a very slight difference in regard to the dust that settles on our hardwood floors. We continue to use HEPA vacuum and dust every 3 days, while we're cleaning we run the Coway 450 on turbo to help "clean" the air before the dust falls to the floor. I would not encourage anyone to make an air purifier to help with dust in their home. We are a retired couple & have no pets, don't burn a fireplace or entertain much. We wish we would have a lighter color on our wood plank flooring - I'd just like to get a handle on the dust in our home.
r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? The Coway Airmega has a screen that surrounds the filter, I have vacuumed the large particles off this area 3x so far. I have been running this Airmega 450 purifier 24/7 for 11 days using turbo when we leave for the day, #2 speed during the day when we’re home and speed #3 at night, I've never used auto cause it simply slows to a very low speed. The dust accumulation on our hardwood floors may have improved slightly. We’ve been dusting and vacuuming every 3 days in an attempt to conquer the dust in our home.

r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? I was eyeing the 300, and 400, models but 50s appears to be more CADR per $ than the 00s. But it's not showing in Canada yet! Got damn.

r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? Think the 350 and 450 just came out recently! 'm a big fan of anything that gives 360 degrees purification on the cylindrical models cause I feel like it sucks in particles better. Also love that the top has an anti-dust grill so I can clean less.

r/AirPurifiers · Deciding between Winix C909 and Coway Airmega 400 (Bay Area, CA, USA) According to U.S. Consumer Reports (subscription required) where the top rated model got an 85: [https://www.consumerreports.org/appliances/air-purifiers/c29550/](https://www.consumerreports.org/appliances/air-purifiers/c29550/) Levoit: Out of 10 models tested. 3 in 2nd tier, 5 3rd tier, 1 in 4th tier, 1 in 5th tier with scores ranging from 32 to 74. None in tier 1 (the best) where the highest rated filter rating is 85. Winex: Only 2 out of 7 Winix models rated good to fair, the rest poor Coway: 1 Coway model rated excellent out of 9 models tested. None of the others fell in their 2 top ratings categories. One is in the lowest rating category. Ratings range from 48 to 85. Coway 450 got a 59. Winix: out of 6 tested models ratings none were in the top ratings tier. Ratings ranged to 51 to 74 where the top rated model got an 85. 2 were in the 2nd tier, 4 in the 3rd tier. Ratings currently not on website. Dyson: 2 models tested with ratings of 49 and 69 BlueAir from 62 to 81. Best overall ratings of all manufacturers with all models in 1st or 2nd tier. These are all just HEPA filters. The best filters for VOC removal have 10 or more pounds of carbon. The filter refills alone can run $300 or more. Checkout Airpura, Allerair, Austin, IQAir Filters with smaller amounts of sorbent media can be less effective and//or require more frequent filter changes. Note that there is no VOC filter that removes all VOCs. There are too many of them. I run Austins and IQAirs which are all on wheels so can be easily moved. And with the rains stopping Wednesday the pollen season will be starting up ....

r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? Just a word on filters - they are still not available yet AFAIK :(, and the design is such that the carbon is behind the HEPA unlike the non-50 series which has the carbon on the outside. My understanding is that the carbon-behind configuration leads to a shorter lifespan on the HEPA. Both seem to have a pellet-type carbon filter but an owner would need to confirm. One other note - storing round filters is space-inefficient.

r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 400 vs 450 Comparison The chart is correct based on my measurements using Eve energy power switch. Please note for the 450, the max power consumption would be for the Turbo mode, not High mode, where I did measure 65W which is within reasonable range of the max rated 72W. Now whether or not the 450 is more efficient at lower speeds so the 23W is actually producing more than the linearly-calculated 158 CFM, I'm not sure without having a way of directly measuring CFM. I asked Coway for lower-speed CFM ratings but they would not provide them.

r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 400 vs 450 Comparison Respect your comments and comparison. However, the comparison table you upload does not make sense in some points. For example, 450 power consumption in high speed only rate 23W? I've checked their website and user manual, it says the maximum power consumption is 72W. So I guess some of the information need to be corrected. Otherwise it will mislead the direction. I'm not saying 400 is not better. They both are nice products but need to be compared apple to apple.

r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? That's the issue with the new Winix 5510/5520 and the Coway 350/450 series. I'm sure we'll start seeing third-party filters as these devices get good reviews and become more popular. A removable and washable pre-filter would have been nice, though that's rare with round units.

r/AirPurifiers · Coway Airmega 350 and 450 thoughts? I just received our Coway Airmega 450 today (3/4/25), of course it's to early to determine it's efficiency but I can say it's pretty quiet on the #1 or 2 setting. We've been running it on turbo this first day as I was told when I call into Coway & then we'll place it on auto after 24 hours or so. Turbo is LOUD!

I use Coway Airmega 450, and yes it's a bit of overkill for my space but it handles it all, has a nice design, and runs quiet. I vacuum the filter once or twice a month, and replace entirely once a year. The unit is $499 Amazon, or $450 on Sylvane, which specializes in air filters and has a lot of products you can check out for comparison. For dust, grit, pet hair, allergens, etc., I consider overkill a good thing. The replacement filters run about $100, which is pricey, but breathing is kind of a priority.
