For European plans you have many options, including (price low to high): EscapeSIM (Aussie company), Jetpac, MobiMatter (Sparks plans), Nomad, RedteaGO, esim.sm, BNEsim, Saily, Airalo. However, I would advise you to only buy the esim as few days before you leave since many have activation deadlines (sometimes only 30 days).

Holafly generally had more reliable coverage and better speeds, especially outside the cities. RedteaGO was more affordable but sometimes patchy. For basic stuff like YouTube and maps, either can work depending on your budget and how much you mind occasional slow spots

r/eSIMs · e-sim recommendations for 1-week Europe trip I generally opt for 10GB plans for less than two weeks of travel. The price point is generally good value. My default provider is RedTeaGo and I have accounts/apps with Ubigi and Airalo ready to go in case RTG should fail me for some reason but that hasn't happened yet. Download your maps for the areas you'll be in to minimize data usage and when you hit dead zones you won't be completely lost. Also disable auto upload of photos to save a bit more data. If you're going to be listening to music I'd suggest downloading some playlists, again to save on data usage. Do you heavier data usage while on WiFi when possible.
r/eSIMs · Very disappointed with Airalo. Seems like in all those hours of troubleshooting the only thing you didn't do was contact Airalo support. I had a similar problem happen with O2 a few years ago. Worked in the country I activated in, moved to the next country on my trip and it stopped working. Troubleshot it for 15 minutes or so and couldn't get it working. I opened my RedTeaGo app, my backup provider at the time, bought a new eSIM for the country i was in, and moved on with my trip. Vacations are far too short for troubleshooting such issues. If you want to keep fighting to get this one working, you can download the maps for navigation and find some free wifi somewhere to get your bookings stuff straightened out.
r/eSIMs · Nomad in europe I can't speak to Nomad directly but i don't seem to recall any more bad stories about them than other providers. I've used RedTeaGo myself several times now and been happy with it. It was recommended by colleagues in the EU. Some friends and co-workers have now used it as well with no issues to speak of. I am a cautious person so whatever plan you decide to go with have one or two other providers installed on your phone with accounts set up. That way you have options ready to go should your first choice fail for some reason. I had problems with my first eSIM choice and after about 15 minutes of basic trouble shooting installed an RTG eSIM and haven't looked back. Vacations are too short to stress over little things that can be fixed that quick and cheaply.

I know RedTeaGo uses either QR code or its app to do the install of the eSIM. I think it also allows for entering the eSIM code in a text format, but I've never had to really think about doing that. What do you mean by manual installation?
r/eSIMs · Flying out to Europe tomorrow - overwhelmed by esim choices. I use RedTeaGo when traveling in Europe. I’ve never noticed throttling, I just use the data until I leave or buy more if needed. I did a three week trip with 20GB, but I’m not a big social media/video watcher while out and about for vacation. Most hotels and cafe type places have sufficient WiFi for my needs. I download my maps, a couple of play lists for when I’m driving, and disable photo uploads until I’m on WiFi. I make WhatsApp and FaceTime video calls fairly regularly on mobile data without any issue. All that being said, like any cellular company if there little or no signal your experience will vary. I also encourage people to have a backup provider to switch to should their primary choice fail. Holidays are too short to puts around with tech support and troubleshooting issues for too long.

r/eSIMs · Best eSim for traveling in Europe I think separate eSIMs for each country is a fine option and it will save you $4. Where it may fail is if your trip starts in Switzerland you buy a 10gb plan for $8. But for whatever reason you use it all up on day 5 you have to buy more data to round out your trip. You spend another $8 in Switzerland, move on to Italy and buy another $8 for 10gb in Italy. And at the end of that trip you’ve only used 5 gb. So you’ve spent another $2 over what the Euro eSIM would have cost you. Obviously it’s not the end of the world in either case but over $4 on a trip like this, I’m going the easy route and just using the Euro eSIM. If I run out while in Italy I’m just going to buy the Italy eSIM to complete my trip. As for the outgoing region i checked it once while in London and I popped out in London when I checked on a whatismyip website. My understanding is RTG tends to stay on the local networks they partner with but YMMV. It may vary based on the agreements. In the locations I’ve used them I’ve never noticed any lagging but I’m not a power user while traveling. Overall my most intense usage is video calls back to the US generally.
r/eSIMs · How does this work? I use RedTeaGo as my travel eSIM provider of choice. Take a look at their Europe 37 country plan and I think it’ll cover all the countries you want to go to. I’d suggest getting the 20GB or 50gb plan depending on how well you plan to reduce mobile data while out and about vs taking advantage of WiFi connections. Most of the time buying and installing the eSIMs on our devices is one of the last things I do before leaving the house. The reason is the countdown on the valid days begins on install so take that into consideration. Additionally when you install any eSIM you have to have a working internet connection whether that is WiFi or another cellular plan. Finally, I also suggest installing and setting up an account with another provider or two as backups in case for whatever reason your first choice fails on you. That plan is how I have settled on RTG as my goto. I have Ubigi set up and ready to go if needed based on what I’ve read here but haven’t had to try them yet.

When I went on a trip to Europe a few years back I had decided to use a particular provider for my data as it fit my needs on paper. Just before leaving I was talking to a work friend that lives in the EU and she recommended RedTeaGo. Told me it’s what her and others use when traveling around there. So I installed the app as a backup. Turns out my first choice failed me in my second country and I fell back to RTG. I’ve been using them for my travels since. Are they the best price, I don’t think so but I find it to be a very reasonable price. Best coverage, as far as I can tell it works well enough for my needs. In areas that I don’t have signal other travelers don’t either (or not great signal) more often than not when its been discussed. Do I still have backup options available on my phone, for sure (RTG, Ubigi, and Airalo). I want to be able to get on WiFi and a new plan if needed with little hassle. My recommendation is to search through the sub here and find plans that seem to be good for your needs. Choose one for your primary and at least one backup option.

For $9US you can get 5GB over 30 days. Jumping to 10GB will be $17.50 so I would just get the 5GB and see how that works for your needs. Topping off the eSIM is [easy.You](http://easy.You) can cut that price down slightly if you use promo codes. Each person should have their own plan as you don't want the two without a plan to get separated and not have comms to sync up with you. So the two primary people might opt for 10GB and the others 5GB and see how it goes. Always download your maps. It'll save you on data and if you're traveling and hit dead spots you'll revert to your offline maps. That was a real thing for us driving around the highlands. Take a look at your current data usage and set the higher usage apps to only sync over WiFi if its an option. For instance you'll likely want to disable your photo syncing from using cellular data and only sync over WiFi, when you get back to your room or if your lunch stop offers free WiFi for instance. Also set up a second provider just in case something doesn't work with your primary. I use Airalo and Ubigi but I've yet to have to use my fallback plan. You don't want to be scrambling to figure out what you're going to do for an eSIM while on vacation. Having options is nice.

RTG does not offer a local phone number for calling. During my time there the only local calls I made were to B&B hosts and locals I met via WhatsApp or FaceTime/iMessage. So I didn’t ever need to use a local phone number.

The eSIM will work just fine, but there is a 95% certainty that the IP routing goes through Hong Kong. When looking at the budget options for Canada, these are all providers that route through HK, Singapore, Poland, or the UK. If you check the [Trip.com](http://Trip.com) reviews, you often see this reflected in the form of apps being blocked due to Chinese routing. If budget is your priority, I would go for RedteaGo (Poland) or Manet (99% sure it’s UK). However, Ubigi and Roamless will likely be better, though I don’t necessarily think Nomad will be.

The only disadvantage is that Montenegro is not included in the standard Europe package, so you immediately have to opt for the more expensive Europe Extended plan. Saily is also great! Only they are more expensive, and because of Montenegro you have to choose a Global plan straight away. I am not a fan of Holafly; they are very expensive and not transparent. Here, too, you are forced to go with a global plan because of Montenegro, which will cost you nearly USD 10 a day. Some cheap options are JamboSim (Europe, 42 countries including Montenegro), eSIM4Travel Best Europe 41 countries, and RedteaGO Europe Plus. If you want to go with a premium brand, I think Ubigi Europe Extended is the best choice. However, Extended is more expensive, and you will end up paying more than necessary in Italy, Greece, and Spain just because of Montenegro. If It would be my trip I would doubt between RedteaGO and Ubigi, and probably go with RedteaGO because of the price. But Ubigi can be slightly more solid in terms of network (used them in 3 of the 4 countries you name). Just make sure Montenegro is covered or buy separate Europe and Montenegro plans.

The 38 GB eSIM is reasonably priced. Got very high speeds with this one in Turkey, and decent latency. RedteaGO. They have very cheap 50 and 100 GB plans. This one was also fine, good speeds and decent latency. Ubigi is also good, but doesn't quite match your price criteria. I'd avoid unlimited plans. You mention gaming. That can be tricky with a travel eSIM. They pretty much all route through Western Europe, so the ping will often be above 100ms. An alternative is a local SIM card, but those are very expensive. Don't forget to buy and install your eSIM before departure. The websites of most providers are blocked in Turkey.

I traveled with a friend and bought a redteago esim in advance, but he didn’t get a local SIM until after we landed. He had to rely on my hotspot for Instagram and Snapchat smh. eSIMs are more convenient in this situation, it provides data and allow access to the global internet. Hehe🐑

For example, your price for Lyca Mobile UK with a UK number is pretty good - but as far as I know you must be in the UK to activate it. The price difference between most providers for 10GB of European data is usually less than $10 with the quality varying significantly. Not specifically trashing RedTeaGo - even though the name screams Chinese discount brand and they operate at least two apps (eSIM Data being the other) where your credentials will also work - I’m just saying that the reason you haven’t heard of a particular provider is because they aren’t popular. If it isn’t popular it’s likely not as successful for various reasons. RedTeaGo did not do well in my Canadian testing but I noticed it had a London exit point so maybe it would do better there? I activated it before leaving, and it connected automatically once I landed. It was also convenient when moving between countries, since I didn’t have to worry about switching SIMs. Btw, I found it includes 10GB of high-speed data per day and is more cost-effective than both Airalo and Saily.

A provider can't push out an eSIM because it looks at the phone model and realizes that the phone doesn't have eSIM capability. r/eSIMs · eSIM with low latency, local IP address and data within the same country Just adding my input: purchased a Spark esim for use in the Philippines. I’m connected to Globe’s network. All IP traffic is routed back to London. Similar to the original poster of this thread (Japan to London). Latency sits at low 400’s according to speedtest (using a Philippines based server). Despite the latency, overall the service has been very good (so far!). Websites load fairly quickly, banking apps work, can watch youtube (1080p), scroll short videos on instagram/tiktok/FB with very little to no lag. Far far better than using redteago in Australia, where IP traffic was routed to AUS to HK, and watching youtube vidoes at 480p was a stretch…720p and above was a no go.

You can find sign-in coupons on internet or on esimdb.com but if you can't find just reply and I can provide them too :d Also, it doesn't matter which country you are in or traveling to, the eSIMs work as if they were just another provider that offers roaming capabilities to their regular customers. Just make sure to activate them before entering a country with restrictions, like Turkey. If you forget, no problem just install any free VPN and get the eSIM installed. Make sure to have a copy of the installation page, as some providers give manual APN settings and don't forget to turn on data roaming. And most eSIMs in countries with high restrictions use roaming, which means an always-on free VPN perfect for tourists, etc. (But it won't be suitable for latency-sensitive applications like gaming etc.).

I used Redteago on my trip from Germany into Switzerland and Italy and it kept working even when the train passed through a few remote stations. It still drops a bit in long tunnels but that seems normal for every provider. Overall, it made the whole train trip easier.

Once you start getting deeper into the mountains, the signal gets pretty weak though. That’s not really on the eSIM though, local carriers have the same issue. Coverage in rural Canada just isn’t great once you’re far from town.

I’ve used Redteago before and it worked really smoothly with no lag. 10GB plan is fine for light use, but if you have weekly online meetings I’d just go for their 50GB plan. It’s around $22 and totally worth it
