r/eSIMs · Traveling to 2 countries? Holafly is pretty overpriced in general, they get you on the "unlimited data" when most people barely use any data when traveling. Compare $6/day on Holafly to Japan data esim for $8 that gives 10GB useable over 30 days, from IIJ via Mobimatter. If you're only in Japan for one day or you manage to burn over 10GB in a day then go with Holafly, but I would instead advise that you get off your phone and enjoy your trip instead of watching so much videos :)

Airalo is such an example. If you do not know the terms and conditions of mobimatter, it doesn't make them a scam.

The most suitable option depends on your data usage requirement. For low use, a travel eSIM will offer best value, eg BNESIM, Mobimatter or Jetpack have good rates. For slightly higher use, a local eSIM from Lycamobile Ireland or Vodafone Ireland (both real local networks) will offer much better value, unlimited data in Ireland can be had around €15-20 and both those networks sell eSIMs immediately on their websites.

You connect to one of the local operators in Switzerland using any travel eSIM. Airalo's service is usually fine but they are normally overpriced, particularly for Europe. They are priced because they are the most heavily marketed and well known company. There are equally as functional eSIMs for Europe/Switzerland like Mobimatter or Orange that are much better value.

Most people do not need unlimited data. If you really have high data needs Orange Travel is a good option. Otherwise Mobimatter sells a range of reasonably priced and reputable plans (including some Airalo ones) at better prices. Airalo works fine, but is overpriced particularly in Europe where there are many better value and equally as well performing options. They are a well known and well advertised provider who charges prices to match.

My parents recently used Nesa in Morocco and were very happy but unfortuantely that provider has closed down. But generally the big providers, while they'll work, charge based on their brand name over any meaningfully better service. Whilst I cannot give a recommendation based on experience, Always Mobile or any of the providers on Mobimatter look decent enough at good prices.

r/eSIMs · eSIM for UAE please help Immigration will give you a physical SIM upon arrival with a small amount of data for free. You can add to this if your phone supports physical SIM. You can also get an eSIM at du or Etisalat in the arrivals hall. If you are going to use an app based eSIM provider, make sure you install and activate before arrival. Airalo and MobiMatter are blocked in UAE, but the SIMs themselves work (or should). Safest bet is to get one upon arrival, though. Source: UAE Resident here and very frequent traveler.

Both will give you quite significant latency because of this when you’re in the US. I’d look at BNE, Umi, Numero, BetterRoaming, Airalo, Firsty or Ubigi for providers that route through the US.

We’re currently traveling around Europe now and it’s been flawless in every country we’ve visited. We do not however buy the Linklan company’s eSIMs they sell. We buy cheaper 3rd party eSIMs (off Mobimatter) and just add them to the Linklan device. It’s super easy. It has made the whole thing much easier and WiFi calling works perfectly.

My parents are travelling in Canada (Vancouver and Toronto etc ) as we speak (almost 1month already) and I bought eSIM for them from Airalo (mom) and MobiMatter (dad) just in case if one of them fails, although, both them are using same local telecommunication providers. I have FaceTime and WeChat them with no issues and didn’t have to contact support centre etc. so they both are quite reliable, in my humble opinion. r/eSIMs · Turkey and China Airalo is great, but remember to install the eSIM pre arrival because the Airalo site and app is blocked in Turkey (and I believe also in China). If you have it installed before departure you’ll be fine. MobiMatter is legit, they resell Airalo plans making them a reseller of a reseller in this case. In case of an issue (what is rare) it might take them more time to help but otherwise legit.
r/eSIMs · Traveling from the US to multiple countries in the EU for 2 weeks. I have eSIM questions. Orange Travel only offers 4G/LTE. But in these three cities coverage will not be an issue. I wouldn’t worry about coverage unless you plan on visiting remote places in France or Spain. If you’re ok with just 4G you’ll be fine. Personally I prefer GoMoWorld and Ubigi in Europe, but it also depends on how much data you need and if you need voice included . And if you don’t need much data a budget plan from MobiMatter or esim4travel will also do the trick. But yes, Orange Travel is ok just a bit pricy and no 5G. Orange had its own networks in France and Spain (and Belgium if you travel over land), in the Netherlands it would likely roam on KPN.

But if it is and you need unlimited that would be my pick for most countries. For what you're looking for, Ubigi might be your best bet (sorry OP). Their 60GB is flexible throughout the month; if you want to blast through 40GB in a single day, you totally can. The have a monthly cap, not a daily. And MobiMatter now offers 999 GB plans for some destinations (some european countries and uae)
r/eSIMs · Esim Help for Dummy I see you already got some answers. I would like to add that MobiMatter has several Sparks Europe & USA plans on sale that work in Europe and the US. It has an IP-routing via Poland so should work fine in Europe for VoiP and Video (performance in the US could be slightly less). If you drop the demand to try in the US you have more options, but the prices are fine and you can try it with no stress liek you asked. On MobiMatter you can enter all the countries your visiting in the search. I personally like Ubigi and Jetpac slightly better, but you would be overpaying if you want to test at home.

So take your pick, biggest is probably airalo or Holafly (but their unlimited plans don't get much love, and get easily throttled at unreliable times). You can also go to a Mobimatter or Maya and get really large data packs for relatively low cost compared to bigger name brand esims.

I also liked the fact that you can activate it before landing, super convenient when you arrive somewhere and don’t want to deal with WiFi or SIM cards. Prices are definitely better than roaming, especially for short trips. r/eSIMs · MobiMatter sucks! Yes, I know that they are a reseller just like Airalo, etc. I also happen to be a software engineer adept at troubleshooting technical issues. It’s TSimTech which is the more expensive premier version since it uses Chunghwa which supposedly provides better and wider coverage than say Taiwan Mobile. My issue is intermittent, it might work half of the time when I am traveling around the country or even within Taipei or New Taipei. There is a lag time with troubleshooting the issue and since I am moving around so much, it’s impossible to reproduce the issue reliably when they asked for more information again later. If a bit of time passed and I am at a different location, they asked again for the same information all over again. It’s a vicious cycle.

r/eSIMs · Is MobiMatter legit and how are they so cheap? "Legit" is a generous word. It's a marketplace, so you might be unlucky to pick/buy an eSIM from their marketplace that doesn't actually work and then they'll deny giving you a refund purely because you installed it, even if you weren't actually able to use it. I used to be a frequent customer but in my most recent experience, they acted like complete scammers who didn't deliver a working eSIM and refused to be reasonable. I purchased a 20GB eSIM for Australia and from the start, it didn't work properly; load speeds were unworkable and coverage was ultra spotty in the center of the city. I wasn't asking for crazy fast 5G, just a normal connection that didn't need 5-10 seconds per page load. I contacted support and attempted three rounds of troubleshooting, but it didn't fix the issue. So I purchased a different eSIM from mobimatter which did work fine (i.e. I still gave them more money!) and requested a refund for the other eSIM. They refused my request saying I had already used 300MB out of 20GB so the eSIM did work and their refund policy stated that no refunds were allowed... I'm sorry but a "working eSIM" is NOT one that takes 10 seconds to load a page even if it does connect to the Internet. Also, 300mb (1% of the package) were spent in sending their support team screenshots. It's crazy that I tried so many complex troubleshoot steps to give it a chance and they kept asking me to try more things (some really stupid like "ensure no obstacles are blocking the signal" or "try using the eSIM in different locations, and send us your current location and the locations you attempted the connection in") Like I don't have time to spent 3+ hours trying to get your $20 eSIM to work.

r/eSIMs · Trip.com eSIM for Asia I travel extensively and have bought maybe 20 eSIMs from all kinds of different companies (although mostly Nomad, MobiMatter, and eTravelSIM) and they've all worked equally well. If you look at the fine print, eSIMs should tell you which local carrier they will connect to. As long as they are connecting to major carriers in the countries, I think you'll be fine. I now just go for the cheapest option - either one country of regional ones.

Last time I went to UAE I bought a one time esim off esim.db, don't remember which (I've used Airalo, esim4travel, Mobimatter etc- they all generally worked fine apart from some weird issues with Mobimatter). It's a lot of faff installing a new esim for each trip. This time in Kuwait I used the same Roamless esim I use for other trips. The per GB cost is not high, you don't have to worry about whether you are buying a 7 day plan or a 30 day plan, and you don't have to install a new esim and then later delete it for each trip. In KW it used the Zain network which is good.

My first e-sim worked fine but when I topped off and added more they reported higher usage of data than my phone did. I tried contacting their customer service who were no help at all. The e-sims they offer are also overpriced and can be bought directly from the sellers site for example Ubigi. I would avoid MobiMatter at all costs.

Their single country SIMs are significantly cheaper than regional (e.g. Europe) SIMs. You can use their app to get a US IP address, and to top up your eSIM if you run out of data. Reportedly topup works even if you have no data at all. They also email you if your data balance is low or the eSIM is about to expire. Airalo is a ripoff. When I used Mobimatter, some web pages displayed in Polish because it gave me a Polish IP.

No weird slowdowns or anything, even when I used it to hotspot my iPad a couple of timesWhat I also liked was that Redteago showed the local network you were on, and it switched pretty smoothly when I crossed over to Germany. I was kinda expecting to troubleshoot a lot or lose service temporarily, but didn’t run into that at all If you’re just using data and want something straightforward, I’d say Redteago or Mobimatter gives you the same result for cheaper. Unless you really need everything wrapped into a fancy app, I don’t see what makes Airalo more “convenient“

r/eSIMs · PSA: avoid Holafly No, I did not! But when I got home, I disputed it with my credit card company (who immediately refunded me the total while they began to investigate). They contacted Holafly and so far Holafly has not provided any response. I actually just got an email today that my bank has reached out to them for a second time. If they do not provide any response then the refund I was given will be permanent and the dispute will be closed. Seems that’s the direction this is going! In other news, I did my research after that and purchased a plan from MobiMatter for the remainder of my trip. The service worked wonderfully and was cheaper too!

I am currently using Flexiroam but have previously used Airalo and Mobimatter as well. All have worked equally well, it has just depended on where I could find best price per GB and countries of coverage at the time I needed to buy. The only noticable difference is if you are going to remote locations in a country (for me this was Saudi and India) where you need to pay attention to the network carriers supported by the esim to make sure you have decent coverage.
If you are looking for convenience then go for a global esim: Airalo $70 for 20GB and good coverage (their biggest global plan) Jetpac $65 for 30GB but less coverage. E.g. some middle eastern countries not covered like Bahrain, Oman, etc. Nomad is same price as Jetpac but with even less coverage Flexiroam $99 for 30GB with good coverage. They're running a promotion until tomorrow (Oct 24) where this plan is discounted to $65. Mobimatter $64 for 20GB with good coverage. Your best bet is Flexiroam if you are ready to buy now. Of course if you are really looking for lower prices then you may want check individual esims for each country you plan to visit.
