I don't believe any travel eSIM provider who says they offer truly unlimited data, it just doesn't economically work with how they are charged. Only going directly to local operators can give real unlimited data (and even then, most of the time there is some fair use limit).

r/eSIMs · Best eSIM options for Erasmus student in Copenhagen (5 months) — keeping my Italian number? Can't you just use your Italian plan there with no additional cost? eSIM is just a form-factor. So if you are going to get a SIM card from a Danish network operator, they will have both SIM cards and eSIM available. I would not recommend using travel eSIM providers like Airalo, Maya, etc. for long term stays like this. As for networks: From what I read, TDC (nuuday), Telenor and Telia are all pretty similar. 3 seems to have a bit less coverage than the others but it's probably relatively similar for Copenhagen.

So take your pick, biggest is probably airalo or Holafly (but their unlimited plans don't get much love, and get easily throttled at unreliable times). You can also go to a Mobimatter or Maya and get really large data packs for relatively low cost compared to bigger name brand esims.

Personally, I would not but an Unlimited Travel eSIM for Morocco however. A local eSIM you can purchase on arrival is much cheaper without the same restricting fair use policies. A Moroc Unlimited plans costs you 300 Dirham on arrival (about 32 USD). That of course if you really need unlimited data.

Every now and then a few countries are added where local providers can introduce more or less truly unlimited plans, but Egypt isn't one of them. i tested a Bytesim plan once and it was throttled from te start. The options mentioned here (Maya Mobile and Supera) also 100% have a limit. I do know 2 alternatives you could consider: Maya Mobile (the old version, click on "old site" on their homepage) and Orange Travel both offer 100 GB plans. Otherwise: Truely offers 5 GB per day. Ubigi has a plan with 60 GB and 2 Mbps afterwards. Those are still the best options that include hotspot. You seem certain about this, but more than 100 GB for one trip is genuinely extreme, even when using your phone as a hotspot. I'd double-check whether you really need that much. Unlimited plans offer a false sense of security.

With iRoamly I would be slightly worried about how they route the data. In the past that was Hong Kong, but I haven’t checked in a long time. I would ask them before you buy. Personally I would probably pick GoMoWorld or Ubigi in Europe, especially on anything below 20 GB.
r/eSIMs · Heading to the Nordics (DK, FI, IS, NO) in 1 month. Need eSIM advice for first timer 🌍 I've tested several eSIMs in Norway and Finland (haven't been to Iceland or Denmark recently). Most of the better eSIM brands are all solid: Nomad, Jetpac, Ubigi, GoMoWorld, Voye Global, Maya. Your safe by to just pick the cheapest one from these. They often route through the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Ireland or the UK. Speeds were all between 200 and 1000 Mbps. If you're leaning more towards the budget category: Sparks (via Mobimatter), eSIM4Travel and Pingwe are also good. Slightly slower, but still comfortably above 100 Mbps. These providers usually route through Poland or Austria. One thing to watch out for: be careful with some of the budget providers from Asia. They'll work fine technically, but in Scandinavia you really don't want an IP address coming out of Singapore or Hong Kong. Holafly was a bit of a letdown price-wise, and after 13 GB the "unlimited" data stopped. Still fine for 90% of travelers though, although speeds seemed capped at just above 100 Mbps from the start. Airalo used the same probider as Spark and eSIM4Travel for the Europe plan, it works fine but you can get it cheaper elsewhere. Northern European countries tend to be quite expensive when it comes to local prepaid SIMs (haven't verified this in Iceland). So personally would skip that option. I would personally probably pick GoMoWorld Europe plan for this trip.

(leewards isles) With a German mobile plan you can use your allowance in Saint-Martin (the northern, French side) and Guadeloupe. These are French overseas regions of the EU and are covered by roam like home. Sint Maarten (the Dutch side) is a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands and is not part of the EU. The Maya Mobile Caribbean plan works on Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, and the Dutch side of Sint Maarten. Plans from providers that the bot lists (like Airalo) still list “Netherlands Antilles” and will likely work there as well, but since The netherlands Antilles no longer exists it is better to confirm Sint Maarten specifically. I would double-check with Airalo if you plan to use it on Sint Maarten. What I would do: use roam like home in the French territories, and probably Maya Mobile for the rest. On Sint Maarten, be careful when switching networks. ubigi has a cheap plan for Sint-Maarten (both sides) if that worries you.

Airalo and Nomad work well for flexibility, Holafly is focused towards heavy data users and Maya was convenient for me because hotspot and video calls work well while moving between countries with just one esim across. Under $100 should be doable unless you are constantly tethering multiple devices or uploading large files every day.

Just double check the hotspot rules if you go with an unlimited option, as some providers restrict tethering on unlimited data.

Most people keep their normal sim on for imessage or verification texts such as OTP's etc and use the esim for internet. Calls and messages are usually via whatsapp, facetime, messenger etc. You can still use your At&t number overseas, however normal calls and sms can trigger roaming charges.

Airalo, Nomad and Holafly are the common options. I also used Maya Mobile on a US trip, prepaid and no fuss, worked fine across cities. For 3 weeks, around 10 to 20gb is usually enough, depending on how much you use.

In reality, japan is pretty reliable for esim's, so it's a less about finding one perfect provider and more about choosing a plan that fits your usage. Ubigi is a commonly used and works well for many, though like any provider occasional issues can happen. I used a Maya esim in Japan (Tokyo and Osaka) and it was fuss free. I set it up before the trip, connected right after landing at Narita and used it throughout the day for google maps, navigating train routes and even translating menus without any issues. For a 14 day trip with an iphone 13, you should be fine with any decent option, just make sure you pick enough data for your needs.

Most “unlimited” plans have a fair usage policy or hotspot restrictions after a point. For Japan, it is usually better to go with a high data plan around 20 to 50gb if you need hotspot. I used Maya in Japan for two consecutive trips and it works well for travel. It is also easy to set up, however like all esims, it follows the same model. If you need consistent heavy usage with no limits, a local sim is still the most reliable option.

Contacting them gives you lots of AI, and then brainless "suggestions" to look at options on my phone that do not exist. They gave me another QR code that also didn't work before I asked for my money back. In short, avoid at all cost.

SfR can be hit and miss but will be cheaper Orange might have better coverage but will be more expensive. I personally use Maya dot Net. r/eSIMs · Is Maya.net legit? Yes, had the same concerns Going to back to the Philippines in 2 months. Now with all these new requirements they have to get a SIM card, it's easier to go ESIM. I was suspicious so I bought the Maya cheapest E-Sim to test, that I could buy which is like 8 or $9 for Phoenix Arizona for 5 days or something like that. Put it in my burner phone and left the house. I'm able to utilize my Google Voice phone number to make calls just as I would on my normal phone and I can also surf the web. So it appears to be working. Had a few drops as I was driving but was able to get the network back.

r/eSIMs · eSIM Gaza I tried Airalo but it would only get 3G. I asked customer service and they said only 3G was available. But now I can’t remember if I bought one for Palestine or Israel. I think the key is to buy the one for Israel. That may have been where I went wrong. The Maya one seems to be working although I haven’t seem him today to make sure everything was working ok since yesterday.

L’Esim si appoggia a AT&T e non ho mai avuto problemi di copertura a New York e Boston. Mi sembra che fosse la soluzione più economica per me confrontando le varie app tipo Airalo, Nomad, MobiMatter e Maya Mobile che ho usato in altri paesi.

Average use for me 60-120gb a month in 6 countries for a couple months each constantly throughout the year. All plans are unlimited global, monthly plans. I'm on Maya mobile atm $56 a month and works pretty well at 4gb data usage a day. Holafly I used for 2 years in past, doesn't work in some restricted areas and slow data after 90gb. Yesim is expensive but works well, but fast to throttle and random, not as reliable for the price in my testing. Fairplay mobile is expensive but works decent, had issue and esim broke after 20gb so couldn't test more . Fonus mobile worked great until I hit 40gb usage for 3 months. Now permanently banned forever. Firsty esim works great just 40gb fast data until throttle and it hits hard so I don't use it so much.
I used holafly but recently they deleted a bunch of areas they covered, used yesim global but expensive, so settled on Maya mobile I've used in 20 countries without issues. It's around 5gb a day fast then 1mbs slow, or around 150gb fast data a month.
Maya mobile is great only $50 and if you use their discounts it's $40 for a month used 80gb a month without issues. Used holafly before shutdown, and yesim works just $76 a month.
